Some people are not “burned out.”
They are simply carrying too much for too long…
without enough recovery,
support,
control,
or emotional space
to remain fully human.
But because they are still functioning,
the workplace assumes they are fine.
That is how exhaustion becomes invisible.
People do not always collapse dramatically.
Sometimes they slowly lose:
their energy,
their creativity,
their patience,
their presence,
and eventually…
parts of themselves.
One of the most dangerous things happening in modern workplaces is this:
functioning is increasingly being mistaken for wellbeing.
An excerpt from my book:
“The workplace does not always break people loudly.
Sometimes it happens quietly —
through constant pressure,
unrelenting expectations,
emotional fatigue,
and the slow erosion of human capacity.”
